Workout Routines | Nutrition Plans | My Business Is Your Fitness

I’d tried some of the Asylum workouts before during a P90X, Asylum hybrid workout, but in November 2011 I decided to do a straight round of Asylum. All I can say is WOW! I’m so glad I made this decision. I lost 14 lbs or one stone in one month. I started the month at 198 lbs and ended at 184 lbs.

The workouts are extremely tough but also doable for me. I pushed all boundaries and I’m getting towards my goal. I need to push further to reveal my bottom two abdominal muscles but that is more to do with nutrition than my workouts.

For the first time, I incorporated a nutrition plan alongside my workout plan (I know, I know…shame on me!) I was eating 1800 calories per day using a 40/40/20 ratio of carbs/protein/fat. I went over this at weekends but essentially I was burning off a lot more than I ate whilst taking in enough protein to preserve muscle mass.

I really like Asylum as the strength workout eases my conscience and my fear of losing muscle when I’m performing a mainly cardio orientated workout program. Asylum is in fact a totally rounded workout program and I’d highly recommend it if you want to burn fat and build muscle, but only to graduates of P90X and or Insanity (or extremely fit people who are used to rigorous daily exercise).

You are getting more and more cut dude! 14lbs in 1 month is awesome, well done!

  2. I will definitely be doing another round of Asylum, whether it's part of a hybrid or another straight round. I still have 6 weeks or so of P90X2 to negotiate first though. A P90X2/Asylum hybrid could be on the cards! I guess this is my 'before' picture for P90X2 but I also put some weight on over Christmas so had to claw back to this before my new results started to kick in. I need to go nuts for the final 6 weeks!
