BUILDING MUSCLE…..Daily MUSCLE workouts?

Posted by pvincent on October 20, 2009 at 10:31 pm

i am currently working on building more upper body muscles (i am a male) and i was wondering…if i workout daily with weights and work on the same muscle spots does what i had ‘gained’ the previous workout just get totally destroyed? i have herd rumors that if you work out daily on the same muscles by doing the same workouts with same weight/drills you just destroy what you have worked on the day before……with this i have also herd that you need to rest each day..also i have herd that its good to workout every day cause the muscle will come back even stronger than before……..now i am a nut for working out.i find it fun and enjoyable so do i need to take a days break in between? thanks for the help

Does building Muscle affect martial arts in a negative way?

Posted by Si on October 14, 2009 at 7:28 pm

I’m about 6’2 157lbs and plan to get up to a ripped 185 lbs before next summer. I was wondering will it affect how I progress in my kung fu and does building muscle affect progressing in martial arts in a negative way?

Best reply by jarrodanderson1229:

not if you build lean muscle, stay flexible, and keep the speed up. But if you build a lot of bulk muscle like a body builder you are going to decrease speed, endurance, and flexibility.

How to build muscle endurance, not size?

Posted by Si on September 29, 2009 at 3:38 am

I’ve been doing a lot of running and biking. I want to balance out the aerobic exercise with some strength training. Sure, I want to build some muscle , but I don’t want to keep growing muscle and eventually wind up oversized- I want to build muscle to a normal extent and from there build up muscle endurance as much as I can. How can I do this?

Best reply by JSatt:

Lighter weights with more repetitions.

Hey hey hey, I need to know some, can ya’ll give me some answers?

Best reply by Franco:

A good thing to do is one day full chest. Upper lower and inner. Include pushups after every set.
The next day do full tricep .all 3 parts
The following day do bicep and back. You can start with either or. Include pullups after most of the sets.
Then the next day do some cardio, abs, bball and any sports.
Then either have the rest day the day after. Or do shoulders and deltoids.

What’s a better supplement for muscle building, Whey Protein or Creatine?

Posted by baelvendor on August 28, 2009 at 9:00 pm

I’m currently taking Whey Protein along with weekly muscle building workouts. Should I start taking Creatine when I’m done with the Whey Protein container?

Best reply by Laurus Nobilis:

I’d say whey protein is the better supplement. Creatine is mostly for metabolic efficiency and energy recovery, whereas the protein is integrated into actual muscle tissue.

I am looking for some swimming positions to build muscle.?

Posted by Si on August 18, 2009 at 1:27 am

My doctor last April diagnosed me with sculiousis. 2 weeks ago I finally was able to go to the doctor(family drama) and they said I had a tense hamstring and that was causing my back pain believed to be my sculiosis. They wanted an MRI since a tense hamstring did not fix all the exact points of my problem. The MRI showed my last spine was weak(the one right above your ass). And they believe it has a fracture by the colors so now they want me to stop working out. The doctor said I could swim and bike and would most likely need a brace to keep my back in a position that helps speed up the healing process. I have been working out for 1 year. I have gone from being able to do 4 push-ups to 32 push-ups and don’t want to lose all my progress. I was wondering what swimming positions build up certain muscles and could you give me a picture or a link on how to perform that exercise(I don’t swim much just play around). Also could I workout with light weights high rep. The doctor said don’t workout hard but if I toned down the weight by 1/2-2/3 would the remove the strain on my back but allow my muscles to workout.

Maximum Muscle building workout plan using machines only?

Posted by pauline on August 13, 2009 at 4:27 am

There are no free weights in my complex’s gym. Please provide me a weekly workout plan for max muscle growth using high intensity sets (3-6 reps with max weight) using the basic machines. Cardio input is also appreciated for fat burning and muscle gain as the gym has steppers, bikes and treadmills. I’m 22 yrs old and weigh 170 lbs. Any suggested supplements and when to take them would also be appreciated. Thanks to all who answer!

Best reply by Brett A:

No freeweights? Thats a ripoff. Free weights give you best results. Oh well.
